In 1891 our founder, Mr John Manley, was quoted as saying “This business will excel if it keeps its focus, consistently provides world class work and looks after its customers, as well as the talented people who work here”. Well, perhaps the reason why Manley has the reputation it does is because we work extremely hard to deliver on those words. We are a small, tight team at Manley and like it that way, only flexing with tried and trusted specialist freelance colleagues when workload demands. Whether we are working on a masterpiece for a national museum, or a family portrait for a local individual, our clients can be assured of the very finest work and service level throughout.
Our team
Having graduated from the Basque Country and Northumbria University in paper and paintings conservation, Sandra gained positions with the Iberdrola Fellowship, Fine Arts Museum of Bilbao with a short placement at El Prado. Sandra has also worked on a diverse range of world class art and artifacts at the Museum National Trust, and Tate, with whom she continues to collaborate closely. Outside of gallery life, Sandra’s interests include music (Sandra plays the bassoon), the discovery of new places and dancing the tango.
After graduating in Portugal, Tiago gained a master’s degree in ceramics and glass conservation at the internationally renowned West Dean College, Sussex. He frequently works with national and international museums, such as The Courtauld, The National Maritime Museum, The Wallace Collection, The Peabody Institute (US) and The Museum of Salzburg. When Tiago is not working, he enjoys learning about traditional crafts and tending to his garden.
Having attained a City & Guilds diploma in Easel Painting and Frame Conservation, her career took Leona into teaching at the London School of Picture and Frame Conservation. Since then, she has worked as a conservator for several private collections and with the Restorers without Frontiers Charity. Complementing her gallery life, Leona enjoys painting portraits, going to the theatre and practising yoga.
Following an MA from the Northumbria University, Marcela has worked with a number of renowned private studios and public institutions across Europe. Projects have included medieval frescos and encaustic wall paintings as well as traditional easel paintings. In September 2023, Marcela participated at the Modular Cleaning Program (MCP). Outside of work, Marcela spends time visiting venues and galleries to discover new artists and live music.
Having trained as a fine art lithographer, Alan spent the next forty years in the world of high-end Creative Production. Alan had been a client of the gallery for nearly thirty years and following his retirement early 2023, is now helping the gallery through its transition. Alongside his NED work, Alan enjoys family, the arts, gardening, food and wine, yoga and birdwatching.
